Overview
The Chief Cloud & Compute Engineer leads the architecture and engineering team responsible for cloud and compute operations across the organization. This role ensures technology aligns with the strategic vision set by the CIO and CTO, and that services meet the organization and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
β’ Lead the Cloud & Compute Architecture and Engineering Team.
β’ Align technology initiatives with the CIO/CTO strategy and roadmap.
β’ Interpret tech and market trends to guide leadership on future direction.
β’ Foster a unified culture across IT teams in various teams.
β’ Promote a customer-focused service environment.
Operations & Performance
β’ Provide daily direction to a matrixed team supporting enterprise, and external customers.
β’ Develop and track KPIs, dashboards, and executive summaries.
β’ Monitor service effectiveness and drive improvements to meet SLAs.
β’ Ensure continuity of operations and disaster recovery plans are in place and effective.
β’ Set minimum standards for system resiliency and security.
Project & Resource Management
β’ Balance short- and long-term initiatives to support enterprise services.
β’ Lead projects related to cloud and compute systems design and implementation.
β’ Create business cases and cost-benefit analyses for technology investments.
β’ Optimize use of equipment and human resources.
Governance & Standards
β’ Develop and document standards, policies, procedures, and roles.
β’ Resolve technical issues creatively and cost-effectively.
β’ Continuously evaluate system capacity to meet agency and customer needs.
β’ Communicate incidents and risks related to cloud and compute services.
β’ Approve and prioritize projects related to major system acquisitions.
Service Management & Improvement
β’ Support ITSM process development and maturity across the enterprise.
β’ Lead IT service knowledge management.
β’ Demonstrate annual improvements in ITSM metrics.
People Management
β’ Set performance standards and evaluate staff.
β’ Identify and mitigate risks in service delivery.
Executive Support
β’ Assist the Director, CIO, and CTO with planning and evaluation.
β’ Support leadership in organizing and assessing cloud and compute initiatives.
Qualifications
β’ Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture and infrastructure.
β’ Extensive experience with AWS, Azure and GCP.
β’ Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
β’ Experience with ITSM processes and service management.
