β’ Our client, a leading provider of consumer credit services, has an excellent opportunity for a Credit Risk Data Scientist to work on a renewable contract opportunity. Work will be 100% remote. The Credit Risk Data Scientist will develop and enhance credit risk models that drive lending decisions, improve member outcomes, and support responsible financial products. Youβll work with large-scale datasets, including credit bureau and alternative data, to uncover insights and build predictive models that inform business strategy.
Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $60 - $70 / hr. w2
Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and validate credit risk models including PD calibration, reject inference, adverse action logic, and risk segmentation.
β’ Analyze large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support model development.
β’ Apply machine learning techniques such as tree-based models, regression, time series, causal inference, and clustering to solve business problems.
β’ Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams to translate data science solutions into production-ready systems.
β’ Work with credit bureau data (TransUnion, Experian, Equifax) and alternative data sources like cash flow and tax data to enhance model performance.
β’ Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements:
β’ 2+ years of industry experience in data science, machine learning, or related areas.
β’ 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL for data analysis and modeling.
β’ Strong proficiency in Python libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, pandas, and numpy.
β’ Solid SQL skills for data extraction and transformation across large datasets.
β’ Deep understanding of credit risk modeling concepts and experience in the fintech or lending domain.
β’ Experience working with credit bureau data and familiarity with alternative data sources like cash flow.
