Job Title: Data Governance Specialist (Alation Tool) Location: Remote Job Description We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist with hands-on expertise in Alation to lead governance initiatives across our enterprise data ecosystem. The ideal candidate will design and manage scalable governance frameworks, embed governance practices directly into daily workflows, and ensure compliance with both regulatory requirements and internal data quality standards. This role combines AI-assisted automation with human oversight, ensuring that governance processes are both efficient and reliable. Key Responsibilities • Implement and manage Alation for data cataloging, metadata management, and governance workflows. • Define and enforce governance policies that are scalable and flexible to support initiatives such as GDPR, CCPA, and internal data quality programs. • Leverage AI capabilities within Alation to automate governance recommendations, while ensuring human validation and refinement of automated outputs. • Embed governance into daily workflows—enabling teams to access, search, and trust data directly within analytics, cataloging, and reporting tools. • Collaborate with data stewards, engineering teams, and compliance teams to ensure governance processes are practical and adopted across the organization. • Monitor and report on data quality, lineage, and usage metrics to track governance success and identify improvement areas. Required Skills • Proven experience with Alation data catalog and governance modules. • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, best practices, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). • Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and stewardship processes. • Ability to work across cross-functional teams (engineering, analytics, compliance). • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Familiarity with AI-driven governance tools and human-in-the-loop validation models (preferred). Preferred Skills • Experience embedding governance in business intelligence or analytics workflows (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.). • Understanding of data quality monitoring tools and remediation processes. • Knowledge of cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
