Role description
Data Modeler (1 Position) Location: Hybrid (Baltimore City, MD / Linthicum, MD) – 40% onsite Duration: 12 months, with potential 1-year renewal Clearance: Must pass State of Maryland background check About the Role The Data Modeler will design and implement enterprise data models to support Medicaid payer operations and CMS interoperability. You will ensure that large datasets including claims, eligibility, provider, and encounter data are modeled effectively for both analytical and operational needs. This role is perfect for an expert who thrives on translating healthcare standards (FHIR, HL7, X12) into structured, compliant, and scalable data models. Key Responsibilities • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned to Medallion architecture. • Model large-scale healthcare payer datasets for use in enterprise data platforms and analytics. • Maintain data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and lineage documentation. • Collaborate with engineers, API developers, and analysts within Agile sprint cycles. • Enforce data governance, HIPAA compliance, PHI/PII protections, and quality standards. • Ensure data models are versioned, validated, and optimized for AWS-based services (Redshift, Glue, S3, Iceberg/Delta). Qualifications • 8–10 years in data modeling; healthcare payer/Medicaid experience strongly preferred. • 7+ years with Erwin (or equivalent), SQL, and NoSQL modeling. • 5+ years with AWS services (Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, Iceberg/Delta). • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, Statistics, Math, Economics, or related (or equivalent experience). • Strong analytical and collaborative leadership skills. Certifications Required: • AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty • Erwin Data Modeler Certification (or equivalent) Preferred Certifications • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional). • Snowflake or Databricks Certification.
