Senior IMS Database Developer β Credit Card Systems (Banking/Financial Services) (Only w2)
Job Summary
Raas Infotek is seeking an experienced IMS Database Developer to join our Credit Card Technology team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IMS DB/DC, COBOL, JCL, and mainframe integration, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability in high-volume financial systems.
Priority Consideration:
β’ Credit card processing experience is a strong plus. Candidates with direct credit card/payments expertise will be prioritized.
β’ Banking/financial services experience is mandatory. Remote candidates must have extensive banking background to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain IMS DB/DC databases supporting mission-critical credit card platforms.
β’ Optimize COBOL/IMS programs for high performance and data integrity in transactional systems.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (app developers, analysts, engineers) to integrate database solutions.
β’ Develop utilities/tools to automate tasks and enhance database efficiency.
β’ Perform data modeling, physical database design, and normalization for large-scale credit card systems.
β’ Ensure compliance with PCI DSS and other regulatory standards.
β’ Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot database performance in a high-availability 24/7 environment.
β’ Support mainframe modernization efforts (e.g., IMS-to-cloud migration, distributed system integration).
β’ Participate in on-call rotations and resolve production incidents.
Required Qualifications
β’ 10+ years of hands-on IMS DB/DC, COBOL, and JCL experience on IBM mainframes.
β’ Banking/financial services background is mandatory. Credit card/payments experience is highly preferred.
β’ Expertise in VSAM, DB2, MVS, and integration with batch/online transaction systems.
β’ Strong knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and data security.
β’ Proficiency in ChangeMan, Endevor, or similar mainframe source control tools.
β’ Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and production support in regulated environments.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
β’ Agile/CI-CD pipelines for mainframe environments.
β’ Java, MQ, or API integration (mainframe-to-distributed systems).
β’ DevOps for mainframe (automated testing, CA7/Control-M scheduling).
β’ Exposure to cloud migration strategies for legacy systems.
