World Wide Technology is looking for a Migration Engineer. This role is part of WWTβs Strategic Resourcing services and is a contract role. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWTβs preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.

Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $80.00 to $85.00 on (w2) hourly. Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Migration Engineer or Professional Services Consultant to support the migration of an existing WS_FTP server environment to Progress MOVEit Transfer. This role will involve the export, transformation, and import of user and folder metadata while ensuring the preservation of permission relationships. The ideal candidate will be familiar with WS_FTP and MOVEit Transfer platforms and have experience utilizing MOVEit APIs and administrative tools for structured migrations.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Export user and folder metadata from WS\_FTP (approx. 652 users, 2000 directories, 500 external clients)
β’ Preserve and map user-folder permission relationships for accurate replication
β’ Import user and folder structures into MOVEit Transfer using its API and administrative tools
β’ Create user accounts, folder structures, and assign permissions within MOVEit Transfer
β’ Perform verification and validation of migrated users, folders, and permissions
β’ Document detailed migration steps, configurations, and provide a comprehensive summary report
β’ Collaborate closely with the team to ensure accuracy and alignment with the scope
Required Skills & Qualifications:
β’ Proven experience with WS\_FTP and MOVEit Transfer (Progress software stack)
β’ Strong understanding of user-folder-permission structures in secure file transfer environments
β’ Hands-on experience with MOVEit Transfer APIs and administrative utilities
β’ Experience in scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for batch user/folder handling
β’ Attention to detail with a strong focus on data integrity during migration
β’ Excellent communication skills for documenting and reporting
β’ Ability to work independently and in collaboration with internal technical teams
