Location: Spring House, PA with occasional travel to Malvern, PA or Raritan, NJ Description: Laboratory Scientist Operations (not supervising workers) Job Description: β€’ 1 5 years experience. β€’ Techniques: Laboratory scale unit operations related to biopharmaceutical manufacturing (preculture, cell culture, harvest, bioreactors, columns, mixing (up to 5L), spectroscopy, PAT sensors, infrared and Raman spectroscopy). β€’ Cell culture experience, coursework in analytical chemistry, biology, physical chemistry, and statistics. β€’ Emerging Technologies, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) is currently looking for a Scientist to support laboratory operations in a sandbox innovation laboratory to support pharmaceutical manufacturing. β€’ The candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments designed to evaluate new manufacturing process technology for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Experiments also include the use of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) sensors to replace traditional QC lab testing. The candidate will support small scale manufacturing unit operations (i.e. bioreactors, mixing tanks, columns, etc.). β€’ The candidate will also be responsible for summarizing and auditing data as part of notebook protocols in several different data systems. The candidate will also support laboratory operation functions that include overseeing equipment maintenance, calibration, laboratory safety inspections, equipment qualification and work instructions, and consumable point of use purchase orders. β€’ Qualified candidates must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Written communications in the form of reports, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations is required. Good verbal and written communication skills a must. Responsibilities: β€’ Setup reduced scale biotherapeutic unit operations: β€’ Preculture from vial to wavebag β€’ Daily offline sampling of preculture and cell culture β€’ Basic bioreactor operation (daily sampling, calibration of pH, DO, and PAT sensors) β€’ Set up and tear down of bioreactors β€’ Setup for other unit operations (i.e. harvest filtration, downstream purification columns) as appropriate β€’ Summarize data in electronic notebook β€’ Conduct laboratory experiments from notebook protocols under guidance of scientists β€’ Perform laboratory operation functions under direction of scientist that includes overseeing equipment maintenance, calibration, laboratory safety inspections, equipment qualification and work instructions, and consumable point of use purchase orders Applicants must provide their phone number.
