ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are hiring multiple Material Engineers with our most innovative nuclear energy clients located in the Greater Seattle area! Team works a hybrid model schedule with minimal travel. This is a great opportunity for someone who brings extensive materials engineering, data modeling, technical analysis and vendor management experience!
Materials Engineering Focused:
β’ Focused on materials processing, supply chain development and supplier qualification for next generation material and components for sodium-cooled fast reactors.
Vendor Management & Oversight Focused:
β’ Oversee test programs at external laboratories and vendors.
β’ Data generated from the test programs feeds into advanced material performance models and provide key input for the design and licensing of nuclear reactors.
β’ Provide direction and oversight of vendor-executed testing programs, working with the contract administrator and the lead engineer to ensure delivery of data and other deliverables to meet requirements.
β’ Work with technical leads to plan test programs for physical and mechanical properties, complex mechanical phenomena (e.g. creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture), and other key phenomena
β’ Assist with the development of test requirement documents and statements of work (SOW) as necessary to communicate supplier technical work scope
β’ Support vendor selection activities with requests for proposal (RFP) and team review/selection process with assessments of supplier capabilities
β’ Provide direct vendor oversight through regular interface meetings and on-site visits
β’ Coordinate technical review process of vendor deliverables and ensure appropriate responses
β’ Assist with supplier audits per NQA-1-2015
Data Modeling & Technical Analysis Focused:
β’ Develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models of complex materials phenomena based on data from literature and testing programs.
β’ Compile datasets from literature for basic physical and mechanical properties, complex mechanical phenomena (e.g. creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture), irradiation performance, corrosion, and tribology.
β’ Perform Qualification of Existing Data per ASME NQA-1-2015
β’ Develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models as input to computer codes and methods to demonstrate the performance of reactor systems, structures, and components.
β’ Plan, execute, and oversee test programs designed to address data gaps
β’ Perform quantitative and statistical analysis on test data and generate technical reports to document new knowledge related to reactor design and qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
β’ 4+ years of Materials Engineering experience
β’ Education: Bachelorβs degree; or a Masterβs degree. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired.
β’ A solid understanding of metallurgy including fabrication and thermomechanical processing of ferrous (e.g., ferritic-martensitic steels) and nonferrous (e.g., nickel-base) alloys is required
β’ Vendor management and oversight experience
β’ Data analysis or modeling experience
