Principal Consultant Analyst
Location: Bay Area - Oakland
Duration: 3 Months
Required:
• PGE experience - preference for 4+ years (more recent the better) within Finance Department/Business Finance or working on major Financial-related strategic projects
• Should be very experienced working with PGE financial specifics such as NEIF / EIF / Capital categorizations of cost, where to find cost data, how to run advanced analytics on them, etc.; needs Financial forecasting and advanced data analytics experience (SAP, SQL, Power BI, Python).
Principal Consultant Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
• Evaluate enterprise performance and provide data-driven insights that lead to actionable recommendations.
• Frame analytic approaches and lead quantitative analyses that will yield critical answers to key questions.
• Uses existing financial models and/or develops new models for analysis and reporting.
• Contributes to establishing standards and drives improvement within existing processes and develops new processes as needed.
• Provides recommendations to senior management (up to and including SVP/ EVP) across functions to drive and influence planning, operations efficiency, and decision making.
• May manage cross-functional projects or initiatives.
• May act as a team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees.
• Leads special projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Interacts and consults with multiple departments and business partners.
• Drives change in the organization and be a champion of company initiatives as appropriate.
• Enrich company data through external and public sources.
• Identify opportunities for targeted, cost-effective resource (savings) acquisition.
• Conduct trend and sensitivity analyses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
• Requires a minimum of six years total of accounting, financial, or business-related experience, including advanced analytical experience; preference for experience in management consulting or investment banking
• Minimum 4 years of previous experience at PGE, preferably in the Finance department or Business Finance working on financial forecasting, statistical modeling, and/or advanced data analytics
Highly Desired:
• Master's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
• Job-related experience, 8 years.
• Utility industry experience
• Experience in management consulting or investment banking
• CPA-Certified Public Accountant certification
• Well-versed with Python/SAS to build descriptive predictive models that enrich, expand, and allow a deeper understanding of data analyses and solutions
• Use of interactive data visualization tools, such as Tableau and Power BI, to present results in a compelling manner
• Data-oriented personality
• Ability to synthesize the requests from management at all levels
• Capability to be a creative, innovative problem solver - but using simple ideas
• Ability to work full-time in an office and remote environment, physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday
• Develop KPIs/KRIs wherever needed to provide an initial view of performance/risks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
