REMOTE Power BI Developer (Data Modeling Expertise)

• Client is Cisco • FULLY REMOTE and Long term contract • 4-6 years of experience as a power BI developer coming from high tech industry • Data Modeling expertise • Pay Rate: 60-65/hr Must Haves: • 4–6+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience (Power BI Desktop & Service). • Strong command of DAX, Power Query (M), and star schema modeling. • Proven ability to build and optimize enterprise-scale models (5GB+, multiple source integrations). • Experience implementing RLS and managing large user bases. • Skilled in performance tuning using DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, VertiPaq Analyzer. • Familiarity with GitHub or similar source control systems for collaborative development • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Notebooks, Pipelines). • Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps Role Overview Insight Global is seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to join one of our largest client's Customer Insight and Action team. This role is pivotal in transforming data into actionable insights through the creation of dynamic and impactful dashboards. We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer with strong expertise in data modeling to design, build, and optimize business-critical reports and dashboards. This individual will play a hands-on role in creating high-quality Power BI solutions that empower business teams to make data-driven decisions, with proven experience working with large-scale data and user environments. The ideal candidate combines technical mastery of Power BI with practical experience in semantic modeling, DAX, and performance optimization, while collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful, scalable analytics. Key Responsibilities Report & Dashboard Development • Design and develop interactive, visually compelling dashboards and reports tailored to diverse audiences, from executives to frontline teams. • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable BI solutions. • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and role-based access controls for secure reporting. Data Modeling & Transformation • Build and maintain star schema and optimized semantic models to support scalable reporting. • Use DAX and Power Query (M language) to create calculated measures, columns, and robust data transformations. • Leverage tools such as Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and VertiPaq Analyzer for performance tuning and advanced modeling. Data Integration • Connect Power BI to a wide variety of sources, including SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, APIs, and cloud warehouses. • Partner with data engineers to ensure clean, reliable data pipelines and consistency with enterprise data sources. Performance Optimization • Monitor and optimize dataset performance, refresh reliability, and report responsiveness. • Manage refresh schedules and implement tailored refresh strategies when necessary. Collaboration & Enablement • Work with business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver actionable insights. • Support self-service BI initiatives by enabling business users with reusable datasets and clear documentation. • Participate in code reviews, version control practices (pbip/GitHub), and collaborative development workflows.
